The 52 series LCD HDTVs are another offering from Samsung that illustrates the number of choices that you have when you are shopping for a new LCD. The styling is a bit different, and modern looking and the case is white rather than the normal black. It is extremely light weight and slim. The weight is only 50 pounds, and the depth is an incredible 3.4”. It is designed to meet VESA standards for wall mounting, but also includes a swivel stand.
The picture is not the best that Samsung has to offer, and may disappoint the high tech consumer. It does not handle the 1080p progressive scan format that is the resolution of the future, and the contrast ratio is 4000:1. It does add DNle technology which is a Samsung exclusive that increases contrast and color accuracy, and it will not disappoint CRT users who are making the move up to HD wide screen with 16:9 theater style aspect ratio.
The standard advantages of the LCD line from Samsung are here as well. Hidden Surround sound speakers and side mounted A/v inputs are standard of the 52 series also. The Optimized Game Mode feature and PC RGB input connections make it a monitor for your PC and a game monitor as well. The light weight and slim size make it easy to locate within your home, and the S4052D is ideal for dens and bedrooms. One interesting feature of the 52 series is a special accessory. It is a cable to connect your Ipod to the unit, and allows control of the Ipod via the Television controls. This is another feature that makes this the ideal den or rec room HDTV, and the stylish white cabinet appeals to younger people and matches modern decor very nicely.
