The nice thing about Samsung is variety. The LCD television line they offer has a lot of options, and it is easy to match one to your own needs. The S4092D is a good example of this flexibility. It is hard to think of a 40 inch screen television as a second unit, but actually this one makes a good TV for the den or bedroom, and yet certainly could be the main television in your living room. It handles 480p/720p progressive scan format and 1080i in intermittent scan. Although it does not handle 1080p, it does have Samsung’s DNle technology, and a 5,000:1 contrast ratio. You will not be disappointed by the picture.
Connection is easy with HDMI inputs, and side mounted A/V inputs as well. It is extremely slim measuring only 4.5 inches in depth, and meets VESA standards for wall mounting. If you prefer not to use wall mounting, a swivel stand is included. Like many of the Samsung LCDs, this one doubles as a game screen with the Optimized Game Mode setting, and also as a computer monitor with a rear mounted RGB connection. At a weight of only 60 pounds, it is extremely mobile for a large screen HD television.
The speakers are two 10 watt SRS TruSurround XT speakers hidden in the bottom of the cabinet. The 178 degree viewing angle is another factor that makes home placement simple. In a den, this wide angle viewing area allows a distortion free picture with full color from just about anywhere in the room. This model is a versatile choice that can fill many Home Theater or second television needs.
