Many people seem to be drawn toward larger and larger screen size in the same way people used to be drawn to larger and larger automobiles. If you are willing to settle for a little smaller screen size, you get something very valuable in return. That is picture quality. The S4096D is an example of this. It combines Samsung’s Ultra Fast Switching Technique that produces a 8ms response time with 6,000:1 contrast ratio and over 2 million pixels to reproduce HD signals with a clarity that is almost beyond belief. There is a Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp as well as a 10 bit processor capable of 12.8 billion different colors.
The picture quality is supported by quality elsewhere. The True-to-Life TruSurround XT speakers that are concealed in the bottom of the cabinet produce a total of 20 watts of surround sound. There are two HDMI interface connection ports plus a full array of convention connections including side mounted ones.
Although the S4096D is first and foremost a television set designed for HD signals and ready for the new HD video formats, it is also a game monitor and even a PC monitor. Samsung’s Optimized Game Mode feature and the 1080p progressive scan capabilities make game playing an awesome experience. The VESA compatibility means that it is approved for wall mounting, but even if this is not your choice, the light weight and slim modern profile make it a breeze to find the right place for viewing. The 178 degree viewing angle contributes to this as placement within the viewing room is a very simple problem to solve.
