The Samsung LN-S5296D has a 52″ screen with a 16:9 screen aspect packed into a sleek case that is streamlined and modern. The LCD, or Liquid Crystal Display, seems to be Samsung’s pride and joy and they feature a large selection of models each with a different package of features and in a wide selection of screen sizes. The S5296D is capable of a resolution of up to 1080p, and this progressive scan resolution puts it on the cutting edge of HD technology, and it is capable of handling a wide variety of signal sources.
The 6000:1 dynamic contrast ration and Samsung’s Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp (CCFL) and a 10-bit processor combine to produce up to 12.8 billion colors. The 8ms response time and ultra fast switching technology allow clear and distortion free reproduction of even fast moving pictures like would be found in action movies and sporting events. One of the strengths of an LCD television is the wide viewing angle. the S5296D boasts a 178 degree angle which means the picture is clear regardless of where you are sitting in relation to the center of the screen. The sound quality is high grade to match the picture clarity, and the SRS TruSurround Sound XT speaker system has hidden bottom speakers for true surround sound.
The connection array features 12 different A/V ports with some being side mounted. The unit is fully PC compatible, and has an Optimized Game Mode that will stun and delight X-Box users. The whole package is a mere 93.9 pounds and the ultra slim configuration has a depth of only 4.4 inches. The only downside to this model is the absence of an HDMI interface in the connection array, but although more connections are going to be needed for a complete Home Theater setup, they are all there and this large screen LCD delivers the goods in picture quality
