Samsung seems to be quite proud of its 53 series. While a first glance at the model numbers would seem to indicate that this model is somewhere between the S4273 and the S4233, that is not actually true. The S4253 is loaded with just about every feature that Samsung offers in its Plasma line. Just about the only difference in this unit and the S4273 seems to be in the design of the cabinet and the absence of a USB port on the side A/V input and output array.
The FilterBright Plus system and DNle Technology with its 13 bit processing are included. The contrast ratio is 10,000:1 and all of this picture enhancing technology does produce an outstanding, brilliantly colored, and distortion free picture. A screen size of 42 inches seems to be the ideal size for a Plasma television and it is on the 42 inch screen models where you find the most lifelike reproductions of High Definition broadcasting.
It is a nice feature of Samsung Plasmas that in addition to the back A/V ports, there is also side A/V ports. This makes connection easier and does not distract from the simple and modern lines of the unit design by having cables connection to the front. The sound system seems to have been upgraded a bit on this model. This is the only Plasma unit to have TruSurround XT speakers included. Like all the Plasmas, the HP-S4253 is light in weight with a very slim profile that makes finding the right viewing area to locate it very simple. In other words, you can put it just about anywhere.
In reviewing the complete line of Samsung Plasma Televisions, this model impressed me the most. In the first place, Samsung seems to have thrown everything it has in the way of Plasma technology into this one. The overall style is superior to their other models with just a bit of space age flair. The most important thing though is just the picture itself. The quickest way to judge just where Samsung is in Plasma technology is to go to a big retailer and look at the results side by side with their competitors. Samsung does not get into as much technical detail in their advertising as Panasonic does, but this may very well be because they are letting the results speak for themselves.
