The S4273 is Samsung’s fully loaded 42 inch screen size entry in the Plasma market. It has Samsung’s exclusive FilterBright Plus and DNle Technology which gives one of the most brilliant and crystal clear pictures available anywhere in the field of large screen televisions. The 13 bit processing that is part of the DNle Technology allows the use of a staggering 549 billion different colors.
Two HDMI ports in the rear of the unit are the center of its connection array. The HDMI interface allows very simple one cable connection to the other components of your Home Theater system. A complete selection of inputs and outputs located in the rear and on the side of the unit give complete variety in connection options. There is a USB 1:1 port on the side and a RGA computer input in the rear. This connectivity to your personal computer not only makes your computer part of the entire entertainment system, but allows the generation of High Definition reception from online sources as well. While it is HD signals that result in the highest quality pictures, the picture enhancing features of the Samsung line result in an improved analog picture, and even you’re old DVDs will look better when viewed with the 10,000:1 contrast ratio and 16:9 screen aspect ratio.
The HP-S4273 is handsomely packaged in a slim and modern cabinet that is only 3.8” wide, and has a shipping weight of only 103.6 pounds. It is Energy Star Compliant which means it was engineered with reduced power consumption as a priority, but it also features Power Save. Power Save is a feature that matches the brightness level of the picture to the ambient light in the viewing area. This could potentially reduce power consumption by 25% with normal use. Overall, this is an excellent package and a very nice size for Plasma televisions. It has what is still an above average screen size, and it is a size where the Plasma technology really shines.
