What are Hardscapes?

Many homeowners prefer to install flagstone because of its natural look.

There are square pavers and stone-like pavers available. Some also come in rustic and smooth surfaces. Pavers interlock each other and are permeable. 3. Concrete

The reason why concrete is preferred because it’s easy to refurbish just in case you want a brand new look for your landscape. Concrete floors are easily refurbished using urethane or epoxy coating. Others simply stain it with an acid and then seal it. There are other known methods for decorating concrete such as variegating, polishing and stamping, among others.

4. Travertine

Travertine patios give your backyards a very attractive natural look. It’s popular these days, but it can also get quite expensive. Travertine comes in light colors that stay cool during the summer. This material is also very durable and tough although it may look weathered on the outside.

Other Hardscape Choices

If none of the choices above appeal to you, there are several others that are not as popular but can be used by homeowners just as well. A good example would be Saltillo tiles. Saltillo flooring offers the classic look that you may want to sport on your landscape. It can also be sealed although that’s not recommended if the tiles are going to be installed under direct sunlight. The sealer can also get the surface more slippery than usual.
